Private Education

Private education institutions have special needs in relation to access for students and the need to restrict their boisterous behaviour on the network. Now, students are required as part of their curriculum to have laptops as part of their technology education – driving increased needs for usage across the backbone for internet access and submission of assignments without increasing the costs of maintaining the facility. At the same time, lecturers and the associated administration must maintain the integrity of student records whilst having free and easy usage of the network to encourage communications between peers and their students. Clearly, maintaining the integrity of student records, exam results and privacy are high priorities in this environment.

Unfortunately, the IT group is typically asked to provide this environment with no additional resources putting enormous pressure on people to do more whilst maintaining best in class support and a greater emphasis on service level agreements to secure the network.

Our solutions help by reducing the emphasis on specialised skills and providing more intelligence in the network to compensate.

Public Education
Public education is different to Private education in it’s scale and it’s funding which has been driving the need for better integration between the traditional Tertiary institutes (the TAFE network) and the public schooling system.

The key priority of the NSW Department of Education is to facilitate cooperative ventures between all education providers, particularly between the TAFE and Schools to use resources more effectively.

In this endeavour, the same special needs in relation to access for students, lecturers and the associated administration discussed for private education apply equally for public facilities. However, the sheer size of the task and the diversity of needs of the various education groups drives a need for versatility in connectivity and the backbone to accommodate very different needs for both security and access.

Again, the emphasis on IT technology as a facilitator of this integration and the lack of skilled IT resources generally available (to schools in particular), means that the centralised IT resources of the Departments are being stretched to the limit with an ever increasing need to increase service levels.

Our solutions help by adding intelligence at the access points at the edges of the networks including wireless and fixed connections that are easily manageable at central sites for policy deployment and access controls.

Health
Strategic directions of the NSW Health department pivot on better collaboration of providers that range from General Practitioners, Public Sector Health Services, non government organisations, private hospitals, day surgeries and a wide range of health practitioners. It is acknowledged that the workforce that constitutes NSW Health is highly mobile and that consumers need to be given better access to information on health issues.

The role of information management in the development of an Electronic Health Record and Unique Patient Identifier, underpinned by appropriate privacy and security standards, necessitates the deployment of technology that can assist in maintaining quality of service, privacy and access controls.

Our solutions underpin this strategy by providing the network backbone that can allow measurement and application of quality of service features at an application level, central deployment of policy to the furthest edges of service delivery and access controls that allow recognition of the types of users that can access thenetwork infrastructure.

Commercial Organisations
Commercial organisations have a very different funding and reporting arrangements from the Government sectors, yet have the same need for controlled access, service level agreements and simplified management tools.

However, commercial organisations typically need to be more agile and quick to meet changes in the organisation as a result of competitive pressures and this includes supply chain management and the need to better communicate with both suppliers and customers whilst retaining the integrity of the intellectual property of the business.

It can be said that Voice interaction that used to be paramount to every organisations success are now less critical as intelligent messaging and email are acceptable alternatives. New services such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) will increase the risks and demand on network resources and statistics show that organisations will deploy widely over the next three years,

The need to retain intellectual property is paramount in maintaining competitive advantage as is the need to provide online access and secure online trading facilities for both customers and partners. Unfortunately, online trading introduces many threats to the integrity of services delivery and intellectual property and the costs of providing such facilities are high.

Secure Agility solutions help by integrating security technologies into the fabric of the network and provide tools that help to proactively respond to threats as they evolve. We also provide technology that allows policy application to new services such as VoIP.

By deploying our solutions, we can reduce risks to the integrity of your business intelligence whilst lowering your costs and reducing deployment complexity and the management interface.
